Ramona Wright
Presidential Lifetime Award Honoree
Ramona Wright is a President’s Lifetime Volunteer Service Award honoree, the highest civil award bestowed by the President of the United States in recognition of volunteerism.
Ramona has made serving others a priority since she was a teenager.
Born in Washington, D.C. and raised in Southern California, Ramona Wright overcame homelessness becoming her family’s first college graduate, a TEDx speaker, author, communication strategist, founder and investor of various entrepreneurial ventures in media and tech, a social media marketing trailblazer and former lecturer at her alma mater Loyola Marymount University.
Some of her other accolades include a Telly Award for producing a PSA about homelessness featuring Academy Award winner Jamie Foxx and Ryan Seacrest. She was named a "Top African American Public Relations Agent" by MadameNiore.com and the Los Angeles Business Journal’s Women Making a Difference Awards recognized her as a “Rising Star” nominee. Ramona was profiled by the Global Good Fund for her philanthropy and honored, along with rapper Trinidad James, for their philanthropic support of Love My Neighbor Foundation.
She’s published in the book “Going Supernova: The Bold Paths of 101 Superachievers” including Guy Kawasaki. Her commentaries, speeches, and creative works have been featured in Black Enterprise and Journal of Popular Film and Television. Her speech "Equality & Progress" regarding women’s rights was published in the Congressional Record.
Ramona is a highly sought-after speaker who has spoken in Ghana, The Bahamas, the Netherlands, and at events affiliated with the American Heart Association, Cornell and Howard University, The Hispanic College Fund, City Year, Google, Hollyhock’s Social Venture Institute, LeaderShape, Microsoft, UCLA, and USC.
In addition to speaking and executive coaching, Ramona is a communication strategist and founder of the Anthem award-winning company WrightOne Media Group. During the past 15 years, she’s held such roles as an interim CEO of the tech start-up WeUp, founding publisher of Wiles Magazine, and co-founder of the MojaMoja Music Awards, a charity event benefiting STEAM education and giving a platform to Grammy Award-winning artists Lizzo, Janelle Monáe, and Anderson.Paak early in their careers.
She’s managed multi-million budgets and worked with Brookfield Properties, Georgetown University, Oxfam America, Pfizer, Qatar Foundation International, Reebok, Sony Music Latin, and the West African Country Sierra Leone.
Ramona graduated from Victor Valley Community College with an AA degree, earned a BA degree from the School of Film and Television at Loyola Marymount University, and she is a certified integrative wellness life coach. As a speaker, coach, and host of The Chair podcast, Ramona has empowered thousands of people to get clarity and focus to achieve their goals.
Currently she serves as a volunteer on the boards of the non-profit organizations Disruptive Technologist and Everybody Eats. Previously, she served as a Sisters on the Planet Ambassador for Oxfam America, advisor to the De Pree Center at Fuller Seminary, volunteered on boards/councils for Levitt Pavilion, Media & Policy Center, National Congress of Black Women, and a founding board member of LMU's African American Alumni Association.
